Hulu Emmy Party – Los Angeles
At The Hulu Emmy Party guests walked past several Handmaid’s in the courtyard after check-in as they entered the event. The Handmaid’s never broke character and made a strong, and eerily silent, entrance into the event. Just past the courtyard, the entry wall was composed of wood plank walls and metal planters filled with lavender; both elements taken from Otium’s design & décor. The Hulu logo & The Handmaid’s Tale title treatments were back-lit & mounted in 3D onto the walls. Powerful images from Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale in custom 8’ x 8’ light boxes anchored the wall and created a sleekly elegant and powerful statement before guests walked under a custom-built archway displaying the Republic of Gilead emblem.
Design inspiration came from the restaurant. The goal was to extend the venue into a larger, cohesive version of itself whilst emulating the Handmaid’s theme. All the furniture from the venue was removed and replaced with champagne tufted sofas, wood topped tables and black square ottomans. Hedging by Jackson Shrub created a lush perimeter to the party. Sand colored carpet covered the floor, from the entry walk-way throughout the entire courtyard. Beautifully deep red floral arrangements by CJ Matsumoto adorned the tables and featured dahlias, orchids & cockscomb flowers. Ambience was sealed with uplighting in green & amber hues accented by candles in assorted mercury glassware. The evening continued to build excitement as award after award was presented to cast & crew of The Handmaid’s Tale. The viewing party for 100 guests rolled into an exclusive guest list mostly of cast & crew who arrived after the awards to celebrate the momentous night for Hulu & The Handmaid’s Tale. The room was filled with Emmy statues, celebratory toasts and high spirits!
