Special Olympics Gala – Los Angeles
The Special Olympics Founders Gala in Los Angeles was a great event for an even greater cause. Guests entered the L.A. Live Event Deck through a colorfully lit white tunnel lined with photos of Special Olympic Athletes. This gave all the attendees a hall of fame feeling when entering the large event area. A modern twist on decor was taken complete with white tufted furniture, glass table accents, acrylic chairs and stools. The bar areas were metal branded with Coca-Cola and ESPN logos to show the events sponsors. In addition to the clean modern design, the stage was concealed by white architectural walls that later opened up to reveal speakers and the guest performance for the evening.
The evening honoring special olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver opened with MC Sage Steele, host of ESPN’s sports center. He introduced the chairman and CEO of the Coca Cola company, Muhtar Kent, who performed a powerful speech. Next to speak was ESPN president and co-chair of Disney Media Networks, John Skipper, who also had a very positive message for all the guests. The final speaker of the evening was none other than Timothy Shriver, son of MS Shriver and the current chairman of the Special Olympics, he brought the night full circle with his great energy and message. All the guest speakers at the Special Olympics Founders Gala were inspirational and entertaining, and as a result, all the guests were captivated. The evening closed with rousing performances by Cody Simpson and O.A.R., with a special performance of O.A.R.’s newest single “Reach Up”. The single is an upbeat anthem capturing the spirit and joy of the 2015 Special Olympics World Games. Outside the main event area, guests could enjoy getting their yearbook photo taken in the custom photo area. This was quite a popular spot that was packed all night long, apperantly everyone loves the chance to go back to high school, at least with a photo anyways. This 15|40 Productions uniquely designed Special Olympics Gala was quite the event for founders, sponsors and all the guests. There is nothing like a noble cause that brings together great people.
